Thoughts:

"Honestly my biggest worry was that we'd show up to the park and there would already be something going on there; I know I used to see string bands playing there occasionally on a summer night. Luckily we had it all to ourselves, and as the sun set we played to a surprisingly large crowd. I like to believe that people were more comfortable there because it was a neutral spot—not a house and not a venue—and I felt more comfortable than I thought I'd be, playing out in the open.
I began my set with a cover of "The Heat" by Graham Smith, a song that has been stuck in my head quite often as of late. I tried to fill my set with some songs that reminded me of having once lived in that Southeast neighborhood. It didn't rain as it had back in the spring when Matthew and I had previously attempted to have a show there." -Jack
